Kaizer Chiefs will this afternoon play their second rescheduled match that was meant to take place in December against Cape Town City FC. This is as Chiefs catch up with other teams in the league following the SAFA arbitration process that ruled that the two games should be rescheduled and played after the massive Covid-19 outbreak hit Kaizer Chiefs in December 2021.
Amakhosi will try and redeem themselves after a string of unfavourable results in the last three games, including the last game against Golden Arrows on Wednesday. Cape Town City on the other hand played to a goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday in Tshwane.
There’s a two-point gap between the two teams with City on 41 points and Chiefs on 39 after 25 games. The visitors are in 3rd position and Amakhosi are 5th on the DStv Premiership log.
With this being Amakhosi’s third match in seven days in what is quite an intense 10-day schedule, coach Arthur has made changes by introducing some fresh legs as he manages his squad.
The two changes will see Daniel Cardoso replace Ramahlwe Mphahlele at the back, Njabulo Ngcobo’s place taken by Bernard Parker
Chiefs will adopt a 4-5-1 formation in this match.
The goalkeeper remains Brandon Petersen
The defence will see Cardoso and Siyabonga Ngezana play at centre-back with Reeve Frosler on the left and Njabulo Blom on the right.
The midfield will be manned by Cole Alexander with support from Bernard Parker and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo in front of them.
Keagan Dolly will run on the left wing and Wednesday’s goalscorer Khama Billiat will be on the right.
Leading the attack is Leonardo Castro.
Parker will reclaim the captain’s armband.
The match officials are referee Thokozani Mkhize, assisted by Lubabalo Pitsha and Xolani Boneni. The fourth official is Buhlebendawo Jobela.
The DStv Premiership match between the Phefeni Glamour Boys and Citizens kicks off at 15:00 at FNB Stadium in Nasrec.
For those who are at home, the match will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv, with live commentary on various SABC radio stations. The Club will also provide regular updates of the action on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
