Football Manager Bobby Motaung welcomed Aphane, pointing out that “I have been following you since you were announced as a coach. You have demonstrated the knowledge of football. However, most important is your spirit. It’s the real Amakhosi spirit.”
Aphane assured the supporters that Chiefs will lift the trophy on Saturday. “I met the players and I am satisfied with what I’ve seen. We have a winning team here.”
“I love Chiefs with all my heart and I will apply everything that I have learnt since becoming the Champion coach,” Aphane added, who will be assisted the coming 24 hours by former Amakhosi star, Josta Dladla. “This is a lifetime experience. Crucial, however, is that we win the match.”
He mentioned Steve Komphela as his role model and, while turning his head towards the Chiefs mentor, said, “I look forward to learn from you coach.”
“The life of a coach is a matter of focus,” Komphela replied. “You must just keep the team motivated while implementing your philosophy in the process.”
Aphane continued, “I’m happy with the selected formation. It is suitable for the kind of players we have. We will dominate Orlando Pirates on Saturday and they will find it difficult to contain us, especially when in attack.”
The Carling Black Label Champion coach will enjoy the experience of sharing the dugout with the squad and taking charge of the team during the first 50 minutes of the match. Furthermore, Aphane will join the Glamour Boys for tonight’s camp.
