At stake when The Amakhosi take on Ajax Cape Town in a Premier Soccer League encounter on Saturday is three points, which should Chiefs take off the Urban Warriors it would see them over take the Capetonians by virtue of having a better goal difference at he top of the PSL table. Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has through his team selection for Saturday’s game made clear his intentions, as he has chosen a very attack minded team to take on the Urban Warriors.
Chiefs have made three changes to their line up from the one that suffered a 2-1 reverse at the hands of Jomo Cosmos on Sunday, the fact that a number of his players have returned from injury has also influenced the Chiefs coaches’ mindset ahead of the game.
In his team selection for the meeting with Ajax Ernst Middendorp has stuck with a 4-4-2 formation and with Siphiwe Mkhonza missing through injury, he has brought Ditheko Mototo back into a defensive role. Mkhonza’s place in the line up has fundamentally been taken by Gerald Sibeko, who himself makes a return to match action following an injury he has been nursing for the past two weeks.
Sibeko’s return to the team has opened up Chiefs options in midfield a lot will rest on his craftiness and creativity in the midfield to open up what has in recent weeks been a stubborn Ajax backline, Sibeko will be aptly aided in midfield by Scara Ngobese who opened the scoring for Chiefs in during their last home league game which was a two nil win over Benoni Premier United on the 14th January.
Scara will replace Arthur Zwane who will begin Saturday’s encounter from the bench, Chiefs final alteration for the game is one which would most please Ernst Middendorp. As he has been able to welcome back Rotson Kilambe who was out of action following an injury he sustained against Orlando Pirates on the 9th December, Kilambe’s return adds much needed firepower for Chiefs upfront and he will play alongside Kaizer Junior in attack. Kilambe’s inclusion in the starting line up has meant that Gert Schalkwyk has been omitted all together for Saturday evening’s game.
