Amakhosi scoop the award after collecting sixteen points from their seven matches played in Q2 round of fixtures.
The journey to clinching Q2 started with a convincing 2-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns at a sold-out Loftus Versfeld Stadium. A double from Samir Nurković did the deed in Capital in October. In November, another 2-0 followed away to the Windy City, Port Elizabeth. Dumsani Zuma causing most of the damage with a brace of goals against an enthusiastic Chippa United. Zuma’s first goal emerged as the Absa Goal of the Month for November.
The next stop was the Soweto Derby, where Amakhosi came face-to-face with their archrivals Orlando Pirates. Bucs’s Ntsikelelo Nyauza couldn’t withstand the pressure in the opening minutes, scoring an own goal to give Amakhosi an early lead. Leonardo Castro marked his name in the register when he scored the second goal for Amakhosi before penalty specialist, Daniel Cardoso, wrapped up the match, by calmly finishing from the spot kick. 3-2 it ended at a sold out FNB Stadium on the 9th November.
Still in November, on rampage Amakhosi collected maximum points in Cape Town. This time on the receiving end was Stellenbosch FC. Defender Siyabonga Ngezana opened the scoring in front of almost full Cape Town Stadium. Again, Samir Nurković getting on the scoresheet with a brace. Zuma summarized the win, starting a move of no less than 24 consecutive passes, Dumsani Zuma finished the contest to make it 4-0.
December festive was marked with a goal feast at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Bloemfontein Celtic fought a good fight giving Amakhosi a scare by leading on three occasions. A combination of Samir Nurković and Leonardo Castro was instrumental in ensuring Chiefs bag the three points. Nurković with a hattrick of goals added to Castro’s brace ended the contest - Amakhosi emerging victorious with a 5-3 it ended.
To conclude Q2 round of fixtures, the Midlands was the next stop. Amakhosi played to a 1-1 drawn encounter against Maritzburg United at the peak of festive season. Midfield maestro, Lebogang Manyama scored the goal for Amakhosi, also in front of the capacity crowd at Harry Gwala Stadium.
Sixteen points, five wins, one draw and a whopping 19 goals for the Phefeni Glamour Boys confirmed their earning of a R1,5 million bounty.
