Kaizer Chiefs (2) 4 (Ngezana 11’, Nurković 23’, 76’, Zuma 90+5’)
Kaizer Chiefs extended their lead at the top of the table to ten points with their seventh successive league victory, when they defeated Stellenbosch FC 4-0 in an Absa Premiership game at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Siyabonga Ngezana who returned to the Chiefs line up after returning from the African U-23 Championships gave Chiefs the lead off a corner in the 11th minute. Samir Nurković scored a second for Chiefs also off a corner in the 23rd minute. He completed his brace with another stunner in the 76th minute.
Substitute Dumsani Zuma scored a fourth in second half stoppage time, as Amakhosi bounced back from their weekend elimination from the Telkom Knockout Cup in the perfect possible way.
Chiefs put pressure on the Stellenbosch defence and after some good interplay between Nurković and Khama Billiat saw Chiefs win a corner, from which Lebogang Manyama swung the ball in from the left and where Ngezana making his first league start of the season met the ball powerfully with his head to beat Boy De Jong and put Chiefs ahead in the 11th minute.
In the 14th minute Kearyn Baccus tested De Jong with a rasping drive from distance which the Stellenbosch keeper managed to dive to his left to block.
Amakhosi doubled their advantage in the 23rd minute in a copycat move to their first goal. It was another Manyama corner which was floated in this time from the right which saw Nurković get to the ball ahead of Waseem Isaacs and he flicked it goal-wards with his head beating De Jong to score his fourth league goal of the campaign.
On the half hour mark a deflected shot by Manyama fell invitingly for Baccus inside the Stellenbosch danger zone, as Baccus took his shot at goal, Kristopher Bergman managed to get in the way of the ball which eventually fell to Bernard Parker whose shot from a tight angle was blocked by De Jong.
Chiefs led 2-0 at the break.
The home team made two changes at the start of the second half by bringing on Lelethu Skelem and Diego Franco Mares for Deano van Rooyen and Jarrod Moroole respectively.
Five minutes after the restart Chiefs lost Billiat through injury he was replaced in the 50th minute by Dumsani Zuma.
In the 55th minute Parker tried curling the ball from the edge of the penalty area round De Jong, while his effort was on target, the Stellenbosch goalkeeper managed to jump up off the ground and made a fine save plucking the ball out of the air.
Just before the hour mark Manyama surged down the right and sent in an inviting cross towards Nurković, who lunged at the ball and managed to make contact, but his diving header lacked direction and went wide of De Jong’s goal.
In the 70th minute Nurković went close to scoring his second when he curled the ball just over the goal after being played into space by Baccus.
A minute later Stellenbosch tested Daniel Akpeyi for the first time when the Chiefs keeper blocked an effort at goal by Isaacs with his face. This was after he had been played into goal with a cross from the right by Marc Van Heerden.
With a swift counterattack in the 76th minute with Manyama surging ahead Chiefs scored a third, as Manyama drove forward he found Zuma in space while his initial effort at goal was saved by De Jong, Nurković was on hand to head home the rebound. Scoring his fifth league goal of the campaign.
Zuma scored a fourth goal for the visitors late in the second half when finished a move he was at heart of in the build-up, tuning the ball home five minutes into referee’s optional time at the end of the second half after being set up by Reeve Frosler.

Chiefs have now won their last seven league games in a row. It is the first time since winning their opening eight league games of the 2014/15 season that Chiefs have managed to win seven league games in succession.

Chiefs have won their opening six away league games of the 2019-20 season it is the first time in the PSL Era since 1996-97, that Chiefs have won their opening six away league games of a PSL season.
Most Valuable Player
A firm defensive showing from the Amakhosi as they kept their 7th cleansheet of the season in their 12th league game. Lebogang Manyama was one of the star performers playing a role in all three goals. Ngezana was another potential candidate for the accolade as he scored the first goal and defended well for Amakhosi. Samir Nurković demonstrated his goal scoring abilities with two well taken goals, taking his tally in league goals this season to five. The Serb was chosen as the Absa Man of the Match for the third time this season.
