Kaizer Chiefs beat Highlands Park 3-2 in an Absa Premiership match played at Durban’s Moses Mabhida stadium on Saturday evening. Bernard Parker, Leonardo Castro and Dumsani Zuma scored the goals for Amakhosi.
Leonardo Castro was back in the team after missing the last game against Polokwane City, while Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Zuma started the match after coming on as substitutes in the last encounter.
Khama Billiat did not take part in the match due to a slight knock he sustained last week.
It was a highly competitive match with Amakhosi having the upper hand. Chiefs created better chances earlier on with the best one coming courtesy of Ramahlwe Mphahlele but went over the bar,
Chiefs dominated the encounter when it came to possession of the ball which resulted in a goal by Bernard Parker in the 39th minute.
Hendrick Ekstein excellently won possession of the ball, passing it to Castro who gave the ball to ‘Die Hond’ (Parker), who cleanly finished from close range, 1-0.
There was a set-back, however, two minutes later, when Highlands Parks defender Bevan Fransman put the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-all.
Coach Ernst Middendorp decided to ring the changes at half-time, bringing on Siphosakhe Ntyia-Ntiya for Teenage Hadebe.
And it was Ntiya-Ntiya, positioned at the left-back position, who whipped in an excellent cross in the 49th minute, which was beautifully tapped in by Castro, 2-1.
It was the Colombian’s fourth league goal of the season.
Dax Andrianarimanana came on for Bernard Parker in the 62th minute. ‘Die Hond’ sustained an ankle injury.
Dumsani Zuma scored a fine goal in the 71st minute, making it 3-1.
A minute later Highlands Park scored when Lesenya Ramoraka put the ball into the back of the net, 3-2.
In the end, Chiefs deservedly got the three points after a fine performance.

The key moment was the 3-1 scored by Dumsani Zuma in the 71st minute. It put the game out of reach of Highlands Park, even though they eventually scored a second goal a minute later.
Most Valuable Player (MVP):
Leonardo Castro looked refreshed after missing out on last week’s clash and looked dangerous whenever in possession of the ball. However, it was Dumsani Zuma who was selected as the Man of the Match after an excellent performance.
