With five games played in the DStv Premiership so far this season, Amakhosi’s focus changes to the MTN8, when they host Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of the semifinal of the lucrative competition.
Chiefs beat Cape Town City to advance to the last four, while Sundowns defeated Moroka Swallows in their quarterfinal.
The explosive first semifinal match comes on the back of Kaizer Chiefs winning their last two games without conceding a goal. League leaders, Sundowns have won all of their league matches to date.
Chiefs and Sundowns met earlier this season in a league match won by the Brazilians, albeit under controversial circumstances that resulted in the match officials being handed four-week suspensions for making some unsatisfactory calls during the match.
Both teams will have little time to prepare, after being involved in midweek clashes. Chiefs travelled to Cape Town to face Stellenbosch, where they won 2-0. Sundowns headed in the opposite direction for an away fixture against Polokwane City, which they won, also by 2-0.
Amakhosi supporters are encouraged to get their new Kappa apparel and wear it on Saturday to get behind their team.
Tickets for this big clash between Amakhosi and Masandawana are available online at www.ticketpros.co.za or through TicketPro outlets including Spar or Boxer supermarkets, Postnet and various Sasol filling stations at R80 per ticket.
