The club has laid on a number of festivities relating to their 37th Birthday.
Formed on the 7th January 1970 Kaizer Chiefs in its relatively short history has contributed immensely to the popularity and the development of football in the country, and also has the honour of having won the most amount of official league and cup titles in South Africa.
In 37 years Chiefs have won a staggering sixty official league and cup titles, which makes the trophy cabinets at Naturena the most laden of all the PSL clubs.
Amongst the sixty odd trophies Chiefs have amassed in their 36 going on to 37 years includes, the Nelson Mandela Cup or African Cup winners Cup which they won in 2001.
Chiefs plan on Saturday evening to ring in the New Year as well as celebrate their 37th birthday by amongst other things laying on a Pyrotechnics Show, as well as having a giant birthday cake at the stadium to add to the carnival atmosphere.
Amakhosi marketing director Jessica Motaung also added her voice to the call for fans to attend Saturday evening’s game, and be part of the clubs history.
The Chiefs marketing director said “We want a capacity crowd to ring in our first fixture of 2007 and also celebrate a bit early Kaizer Chiefs 37th Birthday. This event is part of the history of the team and also part of our history has been the undying love of our fans down the years, and we would like to share this celebration with as many of our fans as possible”.
With a whole host of entertainment as well as fans having the opportunity to win a host of prizes planned for Saturday evening’s game against SuperSport which will get under way at Loftus at 20h10, the club has urged fans to arrive at the stadium early to participate in Chiefs birthday celebrations.
The stadium gates are set to open at 16h00 and tickets for the game are currently available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers outlets countrywide.
