Kaizer Chiefs’ ‘Legends’ team will participate in the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup on Saturday, 29 July in Ulundi, Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal, where they will take on an MC Tshatha XI, a team composed of musicians. The game kicks off at 14:00 and will be played at the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Stadium.
Former Kaizer Chiefs players, Derrick Spencer, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Brian Baloyi were present at the launch of the tournament, which also includes DStv Premiership clubs, AmaZulu, Richards Bay and Royal AM, as well as Eswatini team, Mbabane Swallows.
Speaking at the launch event in Durban on Wednesday, former Chiefs stopper Baloyi said, “It is always nice to get together with the guys and play in these games. It’s about fun and connecting with fans in different parts of the country. It is also an honour that we’ve been invited to play in a competition to honour Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who is a big Chiefs fan”.
Spencer is pleased to be featuring in the game close to his hometown, revealing, “The match is in my municipal district and I urge fans to come out and watch us. I am happy to be able to feature in this game. We have a strong team and the fans will be in for an enjoyable game”.
Khuzwayo, the third former Chiefs player, added with a smile, “I have played in a game for the Chiefs ‘Legends’ recently. We are on a winning run and I want to continue that in Ulundi which is in my home province.”
Tickets for the game are available for R30 at Ticketpro.
