Kaizer Chiefs and Wydad Athletic will kick off their CAF Champions League semi-final second leg at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg this afternoon. Chiefs won the first leg 0-1 in Casablanca last Saturday.
Amakhosi have been forced to make changes to the line-up and the bench due to injuries after an extended season. As a precautionary measure, the Club has also decided to put some of the staff and team members in isolation after coming into contact with people affected by Covid-19.
Notable changes in the starting XI are in the goalkeeping department with Bruce Bvuma who was last week’s man of the match being replaced by Daniel Akpeyi. Another change is in the striking force with Leonardo Castro out due to a hamstring. He will be replaced by Nkosingiphile Ngcobo. They join the injury list that has Lebogang Manyama who is still out with a knee injury, Khama Billiat and Dumsani Zuma.
In the technical area, Coach Arthur Zwane will work with Head of Technical Molefi Ntseki on the bench for this game.
Chiefs will apply a 5-4-1 formation against Wydad this evening.
With Akpeyi starting in goal for the Glamour Boys, the defence is unchanged with Mulomowandau Mathoho, Siyabonga Ngezana and Daniel Cardoso at the back, with Reeve Frosler and Yagan Sasman playing as wing-backs when compared with last week’s team in Morocco.
The midfield is similar to last week’s with Willard Katsande, Njabulo Blom and Bernard Parker. They will however be joined by Ngcobo.
Samir Nurković is the evening’s lone striker for Chiefs.
Bernard Parker keeps the captain’s armband.
After resting all the players who played last weekend’s game in Casablanca in their midweek league game in Morroco, Wydad have also made changes to the team that lost to Chiefs on Saturday at the Mahommed V Stadium.
The referee for this evening’s match is Jean-Jacques Ngambo Ndala from DR Congo. The first Assistant Referee is Olivier Kabene Safari also from DR Congo. The second Assistant Referee Gilbert Kipkoech Cheruiyot from Kenya.
The Fourth Official is Peter Waweru Kamaku from Kenya. The Match Commissioner is Ahmed Iddi Mgoyi from
Tanzania. Referee Assessor is Jean Claude Birumushahu from Burundi.
Just as it was the case in Casablanca for the first leg, there will be VAR technology to assist the match officials in the second leg match.
The CAF Champions League semi-final second leg match between Amakhosi and Wydad Casablanca will kick off at 18:00 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. There will be no spectators allowed in the stadium. The game will be available the Kaizer Chiefs Facebook page, CAF online platforms, with regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
