Sundowns Reserves dominated proceedings in the early stages of the match and were rewarded in the 12th minute when Vuyo Mantjie headed the Brazilians into the lead.
However, Chiefs Reserves kept their composure and drew level three minutes before half-time when the referee spotted a handball in the area. Striker, Yusuf Bunting made no mistake from the spot kick to send the teams into the break tied at 1-1.
Young sensation Katlego Ntsabeleng fired Chiefs into a 2-1 lead with a well taken half volley in the 52nd minute of the exhilarating match played in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Amakhosi were awarded a second penalty in the 72nd minute following another handball in the Sundowns box. Given Thibedi scored from the rebound after the Sundowns keeper saved the spot-kick to give Chiefs some breathing space. Despite their best efforts Sundowns were unable to find a way back and Chiefs ran out comfortable 3-1 victors.
Ntsabeleng walked away with the Man of the Match Award for his excellent performance.
Chiefs Reserves we rewarded with R150k prize money which will be donated to their beneficiary of choice, which is Emshukantambo Secondary School of Pimville Zone 1 in Soweto.
