The Kaizer Chiefs Reserve team will play their last DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) match of the 2021/22 season on Saturday when they host Baroka FC Reserves at FNB Stadium.
The Young Glamour Boys are high on confidence following a solid win against Sekhukhune Reserves last Saturday in Tembisa and will be looking at closing the season off on a positive note.
Coach Vela Khumalo who was happy with last weekend’s display believes that his team is ready for the game against Baroka and would like nothing less than a win from the game.
“We want to approach the game against Baroka in the same way we played the match against Sekhukhune last weekend,” says coach Khumalo. “They are a team that has nothing to lose given their position on the log at the moment; but we are not going to be complacent – we are going to stamp authority.
“We know they are a difficult side, but we are not going to change much because we view this as part of our preparation games for a top 8 finish that started a while ago. We will have the same players, we will stick to our principles, methods and playing philosophy in the match.”
Defender Aden McCarthy who scored the first goal in the game against Sekhukhune is confident that his team will do well in the match given the preparation they’ve had as Amakhosi.
“Ever since I came back in the last three games after my concussion against Stellenbosch, I have built my confidence and we just have to work as a team to ensure we keep focused, says Aden McCarthy in conclusion.
“We need to score as many goals as possible and keep things tight at the back. I’ll work with my fellow defenders to ensure that end the season positively.”
Amakhosi Reserves and Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele Reserves will start their final league match of the season at 10:00 at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
