Kaizer Chiefs reserves will on Sunday, 10 April welcome Chippa United reserves to the FNB Stadium for another DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) clash.

Amakhosi reserves were involved in a tough Soweto Derby battle against Orlando Pirates reserves last week at Bidvest Stadium. The final score was a goalless draw.

Kaizer Chiefs reserves coach Vela Khumalo says he is not happy with the result in the last game against Pirates reserves because of the chances missed but is now looking forward to rectifying some of the mistakes with the game on Sunday against Chippa.

“Given our standards, we look at Derby draw as two points lost because we could have done better,” says coach Vela Khumalo. “I believe complacency started to creep in because of the great results that came in the games before the Derby. We need to ensure we work on minimizing these sorts of mistakes and that is what we are training our boys to do.

“We decided to use this week to reorganise ourselves and make sure we go back to our winning ways when we meet Chippa United on Sunday.”

The visiting Chilli Boys team are still licking their wounds after losing their last fixture at home against TS Galaxy last weekend.

In their recent meeting on 23 January, Chiefs reserves were ruthless and showed no mercy as they walloped the young Chill Boys 4-1 at Wolfson Stadium in Gqeberha.

The two teams are separated by two points on the DDC log. Chippa are fifth with 40 points and Chiefs are in sixth place with 38 points on the standings. All the teams have played 24 games.

“We worked on confidence and mental strength. We are ready and we will give it our best,” concludes Khumalo. “We need to play well and win the game, so we overtake Chippa on the log and see how far we go on the standings with the remaining matches.”

The game DDC clash between the young Glamour Boys and young Chilli Boys will kick off at 10:00 at FNB Stadium and no spectators are allowed.
