The surprise team Black Leopards are the new leaders in the race for a place in the annual Telkom Charity Cup after amassing over 12598 votes by midnight on Saturday with the previous leaders Kaizer Chiefs second with 12406.

Amakhosi, who have been leading the race ever since the voting started, are now 404 votes ahead of archrivals, Orlando Pirates, who are sitting third with 12002 votes, and 192 behind the new leaders from the Northern Province.

Meanwhile, three time league champions Sundowns are holding onto the fourth spot with 11396 votes, slightly ahead of Moroka Swallows, who are finished last season’s league campaign in the sixth spot, with 10734.

Other teams that are still in with a chance are Ria Stars, who are sixth with 4683, Jomo Cosmos with 1754 as well as new promoted side AmaZulu with 341.

Results from the first day had to be discarded after daily newspaper Sowetan mixed up voting numbers for Ria Stars and Orlando Pirates.

The closing date for the votes is July 19 and the announcement of the four teams and draw will take place on July 22 and the tournament itself on July 27 at FNB Stadium.
