With games taking place every weekend from the start of January, Kaizer Chiefs will get another chance to change their fortunes when they take on Royal AM in a DStv Premiership fixture billed for the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane this coming weekend.
This is Chiefs’ first home match in Polokwane for eight years and the team is excited to be back in the province that has shown Amakhosi love and support over the years.
With the team having had some unfavourable results since the turn of the year, coach Arthur Zwane and his troops are preparing to end the recent points drought and start the Polokwane journey on a winning note against Royal AM.
“The moment we’ve been waiting for has arrived and we are very excited to be back in Polokwane,” says Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung. “It’s only a pity that we go to our other home, Polokwane on the back of some poor results, but the team is working extra hard to ensure that we change things. There’s an opportunity for us to start this journey on a positive note and there’s no better place than the province that helped up win the league, and other trophies when we played our home game there pre-2015.
“Tickets are on sale and we would like each and every supporter of the Glamour Boys to get their ticket and attend the match in big numbers, as the team needs all the backing from its loyal fans,” adds Motaung.
Chiefs have moved one position down to 6th on the log, with 24 points after 17 games. Royal AM are 10th, after collecting 21 points in 17 matches.
It should make for a blockbuster of a match with Chiefs wanting to turn the corner at the expense of a Royal AM side that has earned the tag of “Chiefs’ hoodoo team” after winning their battles against Amakhosi since buying their status from the defunct Bloemfontein Celtic at the start of last season.
Tickets for the match between Amakhosi and Royal AM cost R60 per ticket and fans are urged to go to their nearest Computicket outlets, including Shoprite/Checkers, to purchase their match ticket as soon as possible. The action takes place at Peter Mokaba Stadium and starts at 17:30 on Sunday.
