With the midweek fixtures postponed due South Africa’s run in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, all 16 DStv Premiership teams will return to action for the first time this year this weekend, kicking off on Friday.

Amakhosi will take to the field of play on Sunday afternoon following a six-week hiatus when they take a trip to the capital city of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, for a clash against Royal AM.

Royal AM, who formerly played their home matches at Chatsworth stadium, have moved to the midlands where they now make use of the Harry Gwala stadium as their home venue.

The scoreboard read 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes when Amakhosi and Thwihli Thwahla locked horns earlier in the season, back in September 2023 at FNB Stadium.

After managing to pick up 10 points, and keeping three clean sheets in their last four matches during the month before the Afcon break, Amakhosi are looking to maintain that form in the final stretch, as they aim for a CAF competition spot at the end of the season.

Coach Cavin Johnson confirmed that most of his players are battle-ready for Royal AM and keen to kick off 2024 on a positive note with a victory away from home against coach John Maduka’s boys.

Tickets for this important encounter can be purchased online through www.webtickets.co.za or personally, at Pick ‘n Pay and Boxer supermarkets nationwide at a rather pricey R100 per ticket.

Chiefs supporters are encouraged to get their tickets and paint the stadium in Amakhosi’s Gold & Black colours on Sunday.

The game will start at 15:30 at Harry Gwala stadium in Pietermaritzburg.
