Cape Town City is leading the standings with 46 points with Amakhosi chasing hot on their heels with 45 points with both league contenders having played 24 games apiece.
The first round between City and Chiefs played in November 2016 at FNB Stadium ended with 1-all draw. Michelle Katsvairo scored in an encounter that Amakhosi played with 10-men after Sibusiso Khumalo was sent off as early as the 28th minute.
In another encounter between the two, City recorded a surprise 1-0 victory in the MTN 8 quarterfinal match played at a packed Cape Town Stadium.
Despite Saturday’s loss on penalties in the cup match, Chiefs remain unbeaten on 14 matches on open play in all competitions.
