Orlando Pirates 2 (Maposa 54’, 68’)
Kaizer Chiefs U-15 team were in a six goal thriller on Wednesday afternoon against their arch rivals Orlando Pirates in a Gauteng development league game at the Kaizer Chiefs Village. At end of the game the score line read 4-2 in favour of Chiefs. At some point the hosts were four goals up, before Pirates scored two goals in the second half.
Bafana Zitha scored first for Chiefs in the 20th minute turning the ball home from close range after some initial good work down the left flank by Keitumetse Mphomane, who stormed past the opposition before cutting the ball across for Zitha to score. Zitha scored his second five minutes later when he caught the Pirates defence napping as they all stopped waiting for an offside call which never came. Zitha played on and slotted the ball home.
In the final minute of the first half Chiefs went 3-0 up when Najbulo Hlongwane converted a penalty at the second time of asking. His first spot kick was saved the assistant referee alerted the referee to a discretion from the Pirates goalkeeper and the kick was ordered to be retaken.
Hlongwane scored his second for Chiefs in the 41st minute of the game as he side footed the ball past the keeper to make the score 4-0. Pirates scored midway through the second half with Jaden Maposa scoring two well taken goals both from free kicks. Even though Pirates pressed looking to get something out of the game, the Chiefs defence held firm to see out the game.
The Chiefs U-15 team will next be in action on Sunday when they host SuperSport at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena, where the Chiefs U-13, U-17 and U-19 teams will also be in action.
