After two consecutive wins in the DStv Premiership, Kaizer Chiefs will pause their league programme to participate in the Round of 16 of the 2023 Nedbank Cup. Amakhosi will host Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Casric FC at FNB Stadium on Sunday evening.
Chiefs progressed to the second round of the competition by beating Maritzburg United 2-0 away from home, while Casric Stars managed to put four goals past Mkhambathi FC to advance to the last 16 of this year’s edition.
While Chiefs know little about their opponents Casric Stars, the team from KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga will be using the abundance of information they have on Amakhosi to try and cause an upset.
Casric Stars, who sit third on the National First Division log, have a number of former Chiefs players in their team, including a member of the technical team.
Amakhosi, the most successful Club in the history of this competition, are determined to add another trophy to the long list, to end a barren spell without silverware.
Tickets for the L16 Nedbank Cup match are on sale through TicketPro at www.ticketpros.co.za and various outlets, including Spar and Boxer Supermarkets, Sasol garages and PostNet outlets, at a cost of R40 per ticket.
The match between Kaizer Chiefs and Casric Stars will kick off at 18:00 on Sunday, 12 March at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
