Chiefs, who leave the country on Thursday for the World Peace King Cup in Korea, cited the tight domestic programme and their trip to Asia as reasons for their withdrawal.

"After consultation with our technical staff it was decided that our team should not participate in the above match as agreed with you," said Amakhosi, in a letter sent to Danny Jordaan, the CEO of the South Africa 2010 Bid company.

"Our trip to South Korea will really be taxing on the team. This coupled with our tight domestic programme shortly after our return," added a letter signed by the club’s managing director, Kaizer Motaung.

Chiefs were scheduled to play Spurs on July 29, in Cape Town, three days the visitors' clash against Orlando Pirates in a match planned for either Johannesburg or Durban.

The Naturena-based outfit is also expected to take part in the Charity Cup on August 2 and then go on to play Wits University in the Super 8 clash on August 17, before kicking off their league campaign against Sundowns on August 23.

The club recently won the Vodacom Challenge, defeating TP Mazembe of the DR Congo in Durban on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Supersport will broadcast all the Chiefs Peace Cup matches including the final live.

The match against Olympique Lyonnais of France on July 15 in Daejeon will be televised live SS3 at 11h45 and repeated 18H10.

The July 17 tie against Seongnam Ilhwa in Suwon will also be shown on SS3 at 11h45 and repeated 20H30, while their final Group A match in Busan on July 19 against the Turkey side Besiktas JK, will be televised on SS6 at 11h45 and repeated at 18h00 as well as on July 20 at 20h30.

Group B comprise of TSV 1860 Munchen of Germany, Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, LA Galaxy of the United States as well as South American side Club Nacional de Futbol.

The final will be played in Seoul on July 22.
