The midfielder also looks ahead to Saturday’s game behind closed doors against Chippa United, “They will be pumped up, as every team that plays Kaizer Chiefs. We have to play in a positively aggressive way to get the three points.”
Khama Billiat took a corner on Wednesday, which was headed on by Ramahlwe Mphahlele. The ball flew to the direction of Katsande, but the Zimbabwean was behind his opponent. In a flash, however, the midfielder moved in front of the defender, moved his head down, while risking a possible shoe in his face, to put the ball into the back of the net.
“It felt great,” Katsande confesses, “especially after missing a penalty kick against SuperSport United on Sunday.” It was the Zimbabwean’s 15th goal in the Gold & Black jersey. His last goal was back in February 2017, when he scored the opening goal in Amakhosi’s 2-1 win over Maritzburg United.
About Saturday’s Absa Premiership fixture behind closed doors against Chippa, Katsande says: “It’s not easy to play in front of an empty stadium, especially because, as Kaizer Chiefs, we always have a lot of supporters to cheer us.
“We realised that when we played the last game behind closed doors against Polokwane City, losing 1-0. It was so quiet in the stadium. It felt unreal. But we have learnt from that experience and have to keep in mind that five million fans will be watching our game live on television.”
Chippa United are presently in 13th position on the Absa Premiership log with eight points from nine games. That’s nine points less than Chiefs who are in fourth spot.
“We need to win,” the Zimbabwean concludes. “Like Leopards on Wednesday, Chippa will give us a run for our money. We will show respect to them, but we will fight to get the win.”
Amakhosi will host the Chilli Boys in a league fixture at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 10 November. The game will be played behind closed doors.
We therefore appeal to all supporters – please don’t come to the stadium as no tickets will be sold as the game is behind closed doors. The match will, however, be shown live on SuperSport 4. Kick-off is at 18:00.
