On team preparation:

After beating Richards Bay in our last game (on 23 December), we were fortunate enough to have Christmas off and give the players an opportunity to spend it with their families. We returned to training the following day to prepare for Sekhukhune, and I must give credit to the players; they came in and worked very hard to be in top condition and focused, ready for the game.

On playing during the festive season:

In the past, we never used to play at this time of year but that is changing, and I like it, because it is the festive season and many people are on holiday, and we are entertainers who would like to give enjoyment to the fans. We intend to go out and entertain the supporters tomorrow night against Sekhukhune. Inasmuch as we want to entertain, we do not lose sight of our most important objective, which is to win. Our fans will only be happy if we get the three points.

Assessment at the halfway point in the season:

For us, we take one game at a time. We are building steadily and the next game, against Sekhukhune, will not in itself give a definitive indication of where we are in relation to who is above us and who is below us. All we want are the three points to keep building a solid foundation the Kaizer Chiefs way. Most importantly, we are gaining confidence within the crop of players we have. So, tomorrow we will go out looking to put in a good performance for our loyal fans here in Polokwane and get the three points. Then we can go home and enjoy the new year, rest a little bit, and then come back to prepare for the second half of the season.

On increasing goal output:

Many teams rely on having a main goal scorer, and if you have that, then great. At the moment, our goals have been coming from all areas, which is good for the team. Having said that, we are continually working hard in training to improve the conversion rate of the many chances we create.

Status of the squad ahead of match:

Obviously, TT (Thatayaone) Ditlhokwe is still unavailable. George (Matlou) is still out. Some others are also not with us here but we have a good squad and I am happy with the players that have travelled for the game.

On Sekhukhune United:

We have watched them many times and they have some ex-Kaizer Chiefs players like (Daniel) Cardoso and Kamohelo Mokotjo, who is a very good player, and the Nigerian striker (Chibuike) Ohizu, who they like to play, but we have to make sure we plug every hole and implement our own attacking strategy to try and win.

New Year message:

To all the faithful and loyal Kaizer Chiefs fans, and the general South African public, please stay safe, especially on the roads, and we hope to see you in the new year.
