The Colombian striker was not even six months in the country when he won the 2015 Telkom Knockout competition with Mamelodi Sundowns, beating Kaizer Chiefs in the final. Castro even scored the opening goal in the 3-1 win. “It was exciting to win that cup.”
The lanky striker, however, doesn’t want to focus too much on that Telkom Knockout victory. “Every trophy is important,” he points out.
Castro also spoke about the recent Soweto Derby loss. Amakhosi got 1-0 ahead in the league encounter thanks to Khama Billiat, before the Buccaneers scored twice in the space of five minutes to win 2-1.
“We made a few mistakes,” the 29-year-old reflects. “We didn’t really play good football on the day. However, we have since worked hard on fixing those mistakes and we are positive to get a result on Saturday.
“We don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to reach a cup final, although we will take it step-by-step.
“It’s great that we have taken this game to Durban. It’s already sold out, which means that there will be a fantastic atmosphere at Moses Mabhida Stadium. We love our supporters in KZN. We just need to take our talent onto the field and go out and play.”
