Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Dolly was rewarded for his recent stellar performances for Amakhosi, when he was named the DStv Premiership Player of the Month for October/November 2021 and also picked up the Goal of the Month award for his cracker in Chiefs’ 4-0 win against Chippa United at the FNB Stadium on 16 October.
A very appreciative Dolly, who in this judging period made nine goal contributions – as he scored six goals and provided three assists – was pleased to win the award, despite an initial slow start to life at Chiefs.
“I am very happy to get Player of the Month award. It’s been a very long journey for me. Coming back not being fully fit. Credit goes to my teammates, the technical staff, our supporters and to everybody at Chiefs for helping me. Without the help of my teammates, technical staff and supporters pushing me everyday, I would not have been able to get this award. I thank them all and share this award with everyone at the Club,” Dolly told www.kaizerchiefs.com today after learning of his double delight.
Dolly is targeting more silverware this season on a personal and team level.
“For me, it is just about working hard everyday to keep on trying to help the team succeed. I think we have been doing well. We are gelling well as a team and winning games, which is the most important thing,” said Dolly.
For the attacking midfielder, picking up the player of the month award is a tribute to the good overall showing from his team during the months of October and November, where they picked up 17 points and won five out of eight games, in that time losing just once.
“I have always said that when the team does well the individuals always stand out. Luckily this time around it’s me. I feel that if we continue working hard and winning games a lot of the guys can stand a chance to win these kinds of awards,” he said.
Dolly was also the winner of the goal of the month award scoring in the 12th minute of Chiefs’ 4-0 win over Chippa United, a composed finish inside the penalty box after picking up a lay up from Khama Billiat before driving the ball home.
Speaking of his goal he said, “I want to thank the supporters and everyone who voted for me, I am happy to be getting these awards it’s always a boost in confidence. I feel that there are a lot of good goals and anyone could have won it”. With six goals to his name this campaign Dolly is not done with finding the back of the net, “I hope to score more goals so that we can continue winning and carry on our journey as a club”.
Dolly beat off the challenge of Mamelodi Sundowns Peter Shalulile and Sekhukhune United’s Toaster Ntsabata to win the player of the month award, he adds these two awards to two DStv Premiership man of the match awards he has already won this season. Chiefs would like to congratulate Dolly for his achievements and wish that he will continue to contribute towards the team’s success in this campaign.
