Middendorp took the team through the pre-match training session on Friday afternoon in preparation for the visiting SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership.
“We have a good squad of players to choose the best combination to face United,” commented Middendorp. “Despite missing Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Bruce Bvuma and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo still out, we will have a very strong team on Saturday.”
Mphahlele, Bvuma and Ngcobo are not available for selection due to an assortment of injuries.
“Their (United) form guide talks for them,” commented Middendorp. “More importantly, they beat tough opponents on the road (United beat Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits back to back). We have watched them play but it is still early days to draw any conclusions on any opposition.”
Chiefs themselves are buoyant by winning their opening two Absa Premiership games. Winning away at Highlands Park and at home against Black Leopards.
“We will have minimum changes from the last match in the team,” without hinting much about the possibilities, Middendorp added: “we have a core team now and working on a consistent formation and approach. I’m happy with the progress.”
With Chiefs missing action last weekend the coach concluded by saying: “When you get a space in between the matches, it gives you opportunity to work on certain elements of the game. Back-to-back games don’t allow much opportunity to sharpen your tactics. We had a good two weeks of managing training sessions.”
The much-anticipated match kicks off at 18:00 at FNB Stadium. Tickets are still available and can be purchased from Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers stores.
