The game between Kaizer Chiefs Reserves and Ajax Cape Town Reserves ended in a festival of nine goals. The Amakhosi youngsters fought hard to come back from being 4-1 down at half-time. In the end, however, the Urban Warriors took home the three points, winning 5-4.
The MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) game between Chiefs and Ajax was played at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors got ahead thanks to an early penalty. Thereafter, Ajax raced to a 4-0 advantage, before Chiefs netted one before the half-time break. The goal was scored by the young defender, Leonel de Mendonca.
Amakhosi dominated the second half, showing a spirited performance to come back to 4-4 thanks to a brace from Asanda Dyani and a goal from Reamohetse Lekoatsa.
Soon after having scored the equaliser, Chiefs got two great chances to take the lead, but the ball failed to hit the back of the net.
While Amakhosi were pressing for the winner, it was eventually Ajax that scored the 5-4 on a counter-attack.
The loss comes on the back of three consecutive wins of Chiefs’ reserve side. They have now booked 16 points from 11 matches.
The reserve team next face Polokwane City in a MDC clash at Seshego Stadium on Sunday, 28 January (kick-off at 12:00).
