Fourteen-time Nedbank Cup winners, Kaizer Chiefs are in action this evening to try and move a step closer to claiming their 15th trophy in South Africa’s prime cup competition when they meet Royal AM in the quarterfinals of this season’s Nedbank Cup competition.

The two teams who will be meeting for the first time in the in cup competition since Royal AM bought Bloemfontein Celtic’s status at the start of last season. Chiefs and Royal have already met twice in the league this season, with Royal AM winning the first round in Durban and Amakhosi coming out victorious in the second round out in Polokwane.

In their last games, the hosts beat Stellenbosch 3-1 and Amakhosi drew 1-1 against a resurgent Marumo Gallants this past weekend in the DStv Premiership.

After getting injured and breaking his jaw in January, coincidentally during a game against Royal AM, Amakhosi defender Reeve Frosler will be back in the line-up for the first time in almost three months, against the same opponents. He will replace Dillan Solomons.

Another tactical change, as coach Arthur Zwane wants to ensure Chiefs advance to the semi-finals, will see Siyethemba Sithebe replace Mduduzi Shabalala in midfield.

Apart from those two changes, the coach has kept the team the started the last match against Gallants.

The formation is still 4-5-1 this evening.

Brandon Petersen starts as this evening’s goalkeeper.

He will have S’fiso Hlanti on his the left, Edmilson Dove and Siyabonga Ngezana in front of him and Frosler is on the right.

The midfielders are Samkelo Zwane and Sithebe.

Yusuf Maart will move further forward from his usual position to will play in front of the two midfielders.

Last weekend’s goal scorer, Ashley Du Preez is on the left and Keagan Dolly will be on the right wing

Christian Saile Basomboli is the main striker.

Dolly will wear the armband.

The match officials are referee Jelly Chavani, assistants Khamusi Razwimisani and Kamohelo Ramutsindela, and the fourth official is Philangenkosi Khumalo.

The last quarterfinal of the round between Glamour Boys and Thwihli Thwahla starts at 18:00 at Chatsworth Stadium outside Durban. The match will be shown live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
