Coach Ernest Middendorp has vowed that he will not get his Team be distracted by the talk of leading the log, “to us preparation and getting ready for the next game is what’s uppermost in our thoughts,” he said speaking to the media on Thursday morning. “The next game is the most important assignment for us.”


Middendorp and his charged landed here in Durban on Friday afternoon on a mission to compete against Bloemfontein Celtic for the three points in the Absa Premiership, “it is a game by game situation for us,” the German Mentor emphasizes, “we do not sit around checking and counting points. Winning Q1 is important for the coffers and investments for the Club. As for the Team it is all about strategizing and working out systems to win the match.”


At the media briefing Middendorp revealed some of his plans, “before the question is asked, let me clear this one out,” he said, “Khama Billiat will not take part in this match against Celtic. We have devised a special programme to address his recovery. Remember Khama has played none stop for quiet some time now. From the days with his former Club and national team, he hasn’t had enough rest. We hope to have him play a few minutes in the next game.”


Middendorp also confirmed the absence of goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, “I can confirm Daniel Akpeyi will be in goals and the next prepared goalie is Bruce Bvuma, so he will be on the bench. Khune is working on a programme to get him ready to play.”


Siyabonga Ngezana put up a show last week but Middendorp confirmed the return of Erick Mathoho from suspension, “Ngezana player well in last match against Stellenbosch,” said Middendorp, “with Tower back, Siya will play a role from the subs bench. Siya is picking up a great deal of experience by being in the midst of Erick and other experienced players. He is definitely one for the future.”


Chiefs completed their preparations with a Prematch session at the match venue, Moses Mabhida Stadium.


Kickoff is 20:15.
