“I will spend Christmas with my loved ones in my home town of Mutare, Zimbabwe,” Willard Katsande says. “It’s a time to switch off, to relax and to spend quality time with my family.”
The Zimbabwean midfielder also has a message for our Kaizer Chiefs supporters: “We really appreciate their continuous support during the past year, even when we were struggling a bit to get the results we all wanted.
“Merry Christmas to all and, please, don’t drink and drive. Emphasise Love & Peace.”
Lorenzo Gordinho will be with his family in Benoni during Christmas. “We will go to church and have a Christmas lunch. It’s a time to be together and reflect on the challenges of the past year and to put the difficulties we faced as a family behind us. We are blessed to all be together.”
The defender also asks people to “not drink and drive. There are so many alternative options to get home, including Uber and metered taxis”.
“I wish all our supporters a good festive season,” Gordinho adds, “spend time with your family and please don’t forget the less fortunate. This is the time of the year to reach out to the less fortunate.”
The young defender Siyabonga Ngezana has come to the fore this season. “It’s all about spending time with the family. I will go first to Sebokeng to be with my mother, before travelling to eTholeni, KwaZulu-Natal, to visit my father.
“On Christmas Day, we will probably have a braai. It’s a time to socialise and to spend time with family and friends.
“Christmas is also a time to give back to people you care about. It’s about giving presents, but it’s also an opportunity to reflect on the past year and to look forward.”
About safe driving, Ngezana adds: “Obey the rules of the road. We all want to see each other in the New Year, so drive safe. Don’t drink and drive!”
