Kaizer Chiefs will face the East London-based side at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Sunday afternoon, 27 January (kick-off is at 15:00).
“We have played at that stadium against Chippa United,” Parker says. “It’s a wide and big pitch, almost similar in size to the one at FNB Stadium, which suits us well.”
Tornado FC, which plays in the ABC Motsepe League, will make their second appearance in the Last 32 stage, having previously qualified for the 2015 edition of the Nedbank Cup. They were beaten 4-0 by Orlando Pirates.
Their coach is the former AmaZulu and Santos goalkeeper, Tshepo Motsoeneng, who has promised the Tornado fans that his side will “come to fight”.
“We are fully aware of this,” Parker reacts to Motsoeneng’s remarks. “Even when we play a friendly against an ABC Motsepe League side, they come out with a lot of energy, with the players looking to impress our technical staff to get scouted.
“For them, it’s the game of their lives to play against Kaizer Chiefs. However, that’s something we are used to, every team wants to beat Amakhosi.”
“The longer the game goes on,” the striker continues, “the more chances will come our way. Accordingly, we need to convert those goalscoring opportunities. It’s important to get on the front foot. We are looking at winning this game with a good margin, which will lay a good foundation for the following games.”
The Glamour Boys have a lot of supporters in the Eastern Cape and Parker is looking forward to seeing them coming out in full support of the team. “When we last played at Sisa Dukashe Stadium, they created an electrifying atmosphere. I am sure the match will be sold out. We are looking forward to the encounter.”
Tickets for this cup game are sold at TicketPro (Spar, CNA, Jet, Edgars) outlets nationwide at a cost of R40.
