The Kaizer Chiefs Reserve side will be on the road this weekend when they travel the capital of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg to take on Maritzburg United Reserves in a DStv Diski Challenge match at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday.
Amakhosi Reserves shared the spoils with TS Galaxy Reserves last weekend at Wits Stadium, with the match ending 1-1. Maritzburg Reserves, on the other hand, lost 2-1 at home against neighbours AmaZulu Reserves .
Both teams will want to improve their respective positions on the standings, as Chiefs are in 8th position on the DDC log, with 12 points after nine matches and the hosts are 13th in the table, with eight points after as many games.
Coach, Vela Khumalo, says it’s still a work in progress until the young lads are done with examinations
“Another thing is that some of our regulars have been included in the Carling Black Label squad that will be playing on Saturday, meaning they can’t travel with us to KZN.
“The weather has also not played ball. It has been raining, hampering our preparations as we need to integrate the other players who will be replacing our regulars. These are challenges we have to deal with. We will go to Pietermaritzburg and do our best,” says Khumalo.
Amakhosi Reserves and the ‘Team of Choice’ Reserves will kick off their DDC match at 10:00 at Harry Gwala Stadium. Tickets for the match will be available at the gate. The match will not be televised.
