Kaizer Chiefs take on Cape Town City FC this evening in their second home fixture in a row at FNB Stadium in Nasrec.
The teams will want to continue their winning momentum after winning their previous games, with Chiefs beating Sekhukhune United 2-1 at Moses Mabhida Stadium last Wednesday and Cape Town City collecting maximum points against Cape Town Spurs in the Mother City derby over the weekend. The final score was 3-1 in that match.
There are two enforced changes to the Chiefs team that did duty against Babina Noko last week, as captain Itumeleng Khune returns to the starting team this evening in place of the injured Brandon Petersen. The second change sees new signee Sibongiseni Mthethwa get his first start for Amakhosi since joining the team just over a week ago. “Ox”, as the midfielder is known, will replace another injured player, George Matlou.
Keagan Dolly makes a welcome return to the match-day squad following a lengthy injury layoff and will hope to see some action from the bench at some stage tonight.
Chiefs are 6th on the log standings after 8 matches, with 11 points and City are 9th, with 10 points after 8 games.
Chiefs will keep to a 4-3-3 formation for this game.
Khune starts in goals.
Last week’s man-of-the-match and goal scorer, Edmilson Dove starts at left-back. Thatayaone Ditlhokwe will work with Njabulo Ngcobo at centre-back. Reeve Frosler will be on the right of Amakhosi’s defence.
The defensive midfielder is Mthethwa and he will have support from Edson Castillo and Yusuf Maart.
The attacking trio is unchanged with Christian Saile on the right and Pule Mmodi on the left wing.
Ashley Du Preez leads the attack
Khune will captain the team.
The man in the middle is referee Skhumbuzo Gasa. He will be assisted by Cledwin Baloyi and Xolani Boneni. The fourth official is Buhlebendawo Jobela.
The tough DStv Premiership clash between Amakhosi and The Citizens kicks off at 19:30 at FNB Stadium in Nasrec. The match is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and SABC radio stations - with regular updates from the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
