The teams will meet for the second league Derby of the season on Saturday at 15:30, with Steve Komphela’s side 13 points clear of Kjell Jonevret’s team in fourth position on the Absa Premiership standings and unbeaten in their last seven league outings.
A win over the weekend would certainly enable the team to continue with their remarkable second-half of the season for the Glamour Boys, and while the skipper admitted that anything less would not be the end of the world, he explained that, as always, Chiefs are going for the three points.
“It’s always going to be hard going to a Derby match, no matter how many games you have won or if you have lost,” he said after the team’s training session. “Pirates are always a hard team to play but we’ve got to go there and believe in our own ability and try to play our own game and win.
“To be quite honest, we’re not going into every Derby to play for a draw. We play to win, and that will be the approach come Saturday.
“You’ve got to believe in yourself. We know we’re a good team and if we turn up on the day we can create chances and score goals, but it’s about how we perform on the day and hopefully give our supporters something smile about after the game.”
