Instead, Itumeleng’s father Elias picked up the award. “It was a tough season for the team, but I’m grateful for my contribution. We will do better as a team next season.”

Shopane played in all the five matches, resulting in Kaizer Chiefs Reserves clinching the winner’s medals after beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the final. He scored one goal in the process.
“I appreciate this reward,” commented an elated Shopane. “I wish to pass my gratitude to the entire Amakhosi Family for their support during the course of the season. Most of all, I want to thank as well my family and in particular my mother and brother for their support.”
Shopane will pocket R30 000 for his hard work.
Kaizer Chiefs Reserve side captain Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, meanwhile, ascended the stage to collect the team’s MultiChoice Diski Shield trophy.
