“More was expected from me,” reflected Lebese about his PSL season so far, after accepting his trophy for the Goal of the Month for October. “However, I’m working hard and when given an opportunity I will grab it with both hands.”
The Chiefs winger shared the podium with Marc van Heerden, Oscarine Masuluke and Percy Tau, who won the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month for September, November and December respectively.
Lebese walked away with R5 000. He will compete with the other winners of this monthly award for the coveted Goal of the Season at the end of the season.
When probed about the Amakhosi goals coming mostly from defenders and midfielders, Lebese adamantly responded: “Defenders win championships and strikers win games.”
About the upcoming Mamelodi Sundowns match on Saturday, the 28-year-old added: “We know their quality and we will be ready to counter them.
“It is going to be a tough match. We are playing against the African Champions and they deserve respect. We are working hard to prepare for this game.”
