The physical strong left-back, who can also play on the left wing or in central midfield, adds that the whole squad, including the technical team, made him feel so welcome at Amakhosi.
Zulu enjoyed pre-season. It’s his goal to participate in as many Kaizer Chiefs games as possible for the 2017/2018 season. “However, above all, I want to help the team win silverware,” the 24-year-old comments.
“I want to add value to the Kaizer Chiefs brand, on and off the field. It also means that my interaction with other people has to be felt in a positive way.”
Although the Pietermaritzburg-born never really had any favourite soccer players, he did follow former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra closely. “The confidence he showed whenever on the pitch,” Zulu remarks, “that’s something I picked up on and tried to apply in my own game.”
His biggest supporters are his mother and four siblings (two brothers and two sisters). Especially Zulu’s older brother Thabiso has been his rock.
“We often played together and he really gave me useful advice on how to improve my game,” he explains.
When not training or playing a soccer match, Zulu likes to chill at home, listen to music, watch soccer on TV or check out the Discovery channel. He especially enjoys watching documentaries about inventions and nature.
The left-footer is also an eager follower of the NBA with his favourite basketball side being the Los Angeles Lakers, loving to follow the amazing exploits of the legendary Kobe Bryant.
Zulu is actually a very competent basketball player himself, playing as a point guard.
On the other hand, he’s not really a gamer. “I hate losing,” Zulu confesses and explains that this is the reason for not joining his teammates when they game.
“I always have to win in whatever I do,” he concludes, “that’s also why I am so grateful to be able to join a club like Kaizer Chiefs. We both want to win trophies, it’s in our DNA.”
