Toyota continues to be a leading player in the motor industry not only in South Africa but on a global scale. If the month of November was anything to go by, Toyota had a market share of 23 percent of all vehicle sales in South Africa.
Leading the race was the Hilux which has cemented itself not only as South Africa’s premium 4x4, but the country’s overall favourite car. Other Toyota vehicles featured in the top 10 include the Quantum and Corolla which are a prominent part of the Kaizer Chiefs fleet.
Toyota has been the club’s vehicle partner since 2017 and the fairly young partnership is likely to grow in strides over the coming years as the Japanese car manufacturer caters to the club’s transportation needs.
Kaizer Chiefs officials make use of the Toyota vehicles for various day-to-day club obligations such as transporting players to an array of events, officials to meetings with stakeholders, other sponsors and conducting general club business.
“It’s such a magnificent car. I love it!” gushed Ramahlwe Mphahlele on the RAV4. As the most recent winner of the Player’s Player of the Season award, the Bafana Bafana international was afforded the opportunity to drive the elegant SUV for a year.
True to its slogan, which is Lead the Way, Toyota together with Kaizer Chiefs have come up with innovative ideas to ensure that this mutually beneficial partnership goes a long way and lives not only on the road but on the field of play as well. This is evident with the technical area (dugout) at FNB Stadium being furnished with Toyota leather seats – a first in African football.
Supporters are not left out, as there has been the provision of the Toyota Zone which provides free, safe and secure parking for fans attending home matches at the FNB and Moses Mabhida Stadiums.
Supporters should hold out for more as exciting new innovations are to be rolled out in the near future.
