Kaizer Chiefs will be aiming for their sixth straight win in all competitions when they welcome Marumo Gallants to the FNB Stadium this evening in their 25th DStv Premiership match of the current season.
Bottom-placed Marumo will pose a challenge for Amakhosi as they want to get out of the relegation zone by maintaining their momentum with a win in tonight’s match – which could be their third win in a row. Bahlabane ba ntwa convincingly won their midweek league clash against Royal AM, 3-1, at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
But with the battle for the CAF Champions League spot hotting up, Amakhosi will want to collect maximum points to continue putting pressure on the two teams who are ahead of them due to superior goal difference.
Amakhosi collected maximum points when they beat a stubborn Stellenbosch FC in their last match on April Fool’s day at the FNB Stadium.
With 40 points collected in 24 games, Amakhosi are 4th on the log. The visitors have played the same number of games with 23 points in the bag, and are in position 16 on the log.
Chiefs will be boosted by the return of midfielder Yusuf Maart, who missed the last match through suspension. He will return to the starting line-up in today’s game in place of Siyethemba Sithebe, who will be given some rest after starting the last seven matches in a row.
The Maart-Sithebe swap is the only change Coach Arthur Zwane has decided to make to the team that beat Stellies last weekend.
Chiefs will stick to their regular 4-5-1 formation this evening.
Brandon Petersen is still in goal for Amakhosi.
The defenders are S’fiso Hlanti, who is on the left. Edmilson Dove and Siyabonga Ngezana are at the centre of Amakhosi’s defence and Dillan Solomons is on the right.
Last weekend’s man of the match, Samkelo Zwane, will play with Yusuf Maart in the middle of the park.
Mduduzi Shabalala is in front of the two midfielders and will have last weekend’s goal scorers Ashley Du Preez and Keagan Dolly on the left and right wing, respectively.
Christain Saile Basomboli is the main striker.
Dolly is captain.
The whistle-blower is referee, Thokozani Mkhize. He will be assisted by Sbusiso Sisilana and Happy Nhlanhla. The fourth official is Modisa Moretsi.
The big match between Glamour Boys and Bahlabane ba ntwa commences at 20:00 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. The DStv Premiership match will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
