Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu go head to head in the Telkom Knockout Last 16 on Saturday, 28 October. Kick-off is at 20:15 at Amakhosi’s alternative home venue, Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“There is a good attitude amongst my teammates and the technical team,” declared the upbeat ‘Mido’, as he is nicknamed. “With games coming thick and fast, we have to be consistent. AmaZulu have been on form in the league. And, considering the fact that the game will be played in Durban, they will have a lot to offer. However, we will conquer them in their own backyard because we prepared well and we have a strong support in Durban.”
“We have been playing a good game,” Mido referred to the 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns and a goalless stalemate in the Soweto Derby. “We hope to elevate these performances to an even higher level for the game on Saturday.”
Chiefs have been a bit inconsistent in front of goals, but Mido accepts shouldering some of the responsibility, “If the strikers don't score, us midfielders, above all Hendrick Ekstein and myself, must take responsibility to score. There’s no player who doesn’t want to put the ball in the back of the net and I definitely want to score more goals.”
“The guys are looking forward to the trip to Durban,” concludes Mido. “The mood in the camp is upbeat.
We are determined to win and progress to the next stage.”
