“Kaizer Chiefs is a big team with a big following, so the presence of the supporters means a lot to the players. However, we have been working hard during the week to prepare the players for this situation.”
The Glamour Boys will take on Chippa United tonight in a much talked-about encounter, which will be played behind closed doors at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“Behind closed doors or not,” added Solinas, “it’s a football game with three points at stake. Chippa have been playing well and that’s why I don’t read much into their position on the log. They are always a dangerous side to play against.”
The Chilli Boys are in 14th position on the Absa Premiership log with eight points from nine games, nine points less than Amakhosi who are in fourth spot.
Chiefs have a few players out with injuries. Bernard Parker, who has been in top form in recent games, will miss the Chippa clash due to a hamstring concern. Another still out is Lebogang Manyama. “We hope that they will be back for our next game,” Solinas commented, before adding, “Joseph Molangoane is also doing well in his recovery and this is encouraging news for the camp.”
“We need to push and take it one game at the time,” concluded the Italian. “We try to collect maximum points in every game. The match against Chippa is key, as are all matches, and we need to focus. We will definitely pull out all stops to win this one.”
Amakhosi will look at this encounter to mark the end of a painful period of serving a two-match ban of having to play league games behind closed doors.
The encounter between Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United will be shown live on SuperSport 4 from 18:00.
