Following his cup-clinching goal against SuperSport United in the SAA Supa8 on October 21, Zambian striker Rotson Kilambe further repaid the faith shown in him by the Amakhosi technical team with two fine strikes - this time in the Telkom Knockout Cup against Bidvest Wits on October 28.

Kilambe, is however not celebrating yet. "There’s more to come," he says. "And there’s also more work to be done. I am still working on my fitness and other areas of my game according to the coach’s instructions."

The former Zambian international, who still has hopes of playing for his country, acknowledges that it has not been smooth sailing for Amakhosi thus far - "Pressure is there but we have to handle it."

That pressure will gradually fade away especially if the team consistently performs as well as they did against Wits and deliver the goals and results. His views on the two goals against Wits? "Oh I just followed what the coach said. He told me not to lose hope and to keep on fighting."

While there was a big celebration after the SAA Supa8 victory with the rest of the team, Kilambe says that was not the case after the Wits victory, perhaps with the knowledge that they are yet to reach their ultimate goal of winning the inaugural Telkom Knockout Cup.

"After the game I went home and looked at the video of the match to see where I had made mistakes, what negatives I made in the game. I also had a chat with Shaun (Bartlett) who helped me analyse my game. Shaun is a senior player and has a lot of input to make in this team.

"I am a bit worried at the way our supporters are treating Shaun. He is a very good player and I enjoy playing along him, not to say I do not feel the same about other players. He is always encouraging me and if I made a mistake he would come and encourage me.

"Our supporters need to be patient with Shaun. Our coach knows why he is using him. Yes he is not scoring at the moment, but any striker can also experience that. Look at Andriy Shevchenko at Chelsea. He also went through a long period without scoring but the coach never lost faith in him," said Kilambe.

The draw for the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout will be conducted on Monday and Kilambe feels that whatever team is thrown their way, the Glamour Boys will be able to deal with that.

"We have to work hard and cannot afford to relax," he said. "For us it doesn’t matter who we play, our focus is on winning the next match and ultimately the cup."
