Young Africans SC (1) 1
(Musonda 45+1)
Kaizer Chiefs (0) 0
An experimental Kaizer Chiefs line-up went down 1-0 to Young Africans SC in a pre-season friendly in front of a capacity 60 000 crowd at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Saturday evening.
Zambian international Kennedy Musonda put Yanga ahead as he scored the game’s only goal one minute into first-half stoppage time.
Missing a number of players not available due to injuries, Coach Molefi Ntseki fielded five new signings in his starting XI and they showed some promising signs against the Tanzanian champions.
Both coaches made a raft of substitutions during the second half, to give some time on the pitch to as many players as possible.
Amakhosi continue on to Botswana, where they will play another friendly match against Township Rollers at the National stadium in Gaborone next Saturday, 29 July.
They open their 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban on Sunday, 6 August.
