Ngcobo, Mashiane, Radebe, Bvuma, Frosler, Sifama and Mokoena get new contracts

Kaizer Chiefs have taken advantage of the January transfer window to extend the contracts of seven of the Club’s most promising players. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Sabelo Radebe, Happy Mashiane, Reeve Frosler, Keletso Sifama, Bruce Bvuma and Thabo Mokoena all received new contracts that will see them stay with Amakhosi for the foreseeable future.

Six of the seven talented prospects are products of the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy and, having been promoted from the reserve team into the senior squad, impressed sufficiently to be rewarded with new deals.

Nkosingiphile “Mshini” Ngcobo, who joined Chiefs’ senior team in 2017 from the youth ranks, has been tied down until June 2024. The exciting forward had a great debut season and continues to improve, showing he has all the attributes to become a top player.

Also staying until 2024 is goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, a regular member of recent Bafana Bafana squads and currently in his 5th year with the senior team.

Tembisa-born Happy Mashiane and defender Reeve Frosler will also stay with Chiefs for another three and a half years, until June 2025. 24-year-old Frosler, who hails from Qqeberha, arrived at Naturena in January 2019 from Wits.

In addition, Sabelo “Bibo” Radebe, one of Amakhosi’s brightest young prodigies both on and off the pitch – he recently obtained a diploma – has been secured on a long-term deal until June 2026.

Furthermore, the duo of Keletso Sifama and Thabo Mokoena, who were promoted to the senior team last season, have returned from a loan spell with Pretoria Callies to have their contracts extended a further two-and-a-half years.

“We are happy that we were able to secure these seven players’ services for an extended period,” says Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. “We have to ensure that our future is secured and these are the players that will form an integral part in building a formidable team in years to come. This is in line with our strategy and primary focus of reducing the average age of the squad and building a young dynamic team for the future.

“There are senior players’ contracts that need to be reviewed and we are in the process of evaluating and finalising those deals. We will make further announcements in due course.”

The Club did enquire about the availability of some players with a few Clubs in the league during the January transfer window period, but there was general reluctance from some of those Clubs to do business even though the players expressed their interest in joining Amakhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs will continue to do business on a willing buyer, willing seller policy with other Clubs in the future.

“We signed nine players at the start of the season, many of whom were called for by supporters, and they have added a lot of value to the team. This means we have a good balance in terms of contracts when you look at the nine and the seven we’ve just extended. We believe the squad will compete fiercely in the coming months so that we finish as high as possible on the log,” concludes Football Manager, Bobby Motaung.

“The plan is to ensure that the coaching team should be able to plan adequately without worrying much about players’ movements. We will sit again at the end of the season to assess what we require so that we are ready in the new season because this is an on-going process.”
