The group visited The Amakhosi’s base in Naturena in Southern Johannesburg on Friday and spent time with the club's brand department, and had a chance to watch the first team in training on Friday morning.
Commenting on the visit by the Nike team and their advertising agency, Kaizer Chiefs brand manager Dara Carroll said, “Nike sent a number of people from their Amsterdam office to pay a visit to us, as they would like to do a number of projects which include their various football properties.”
Furthermore to the visit by the Nike team Carroll said; “It was good to host the guys from Amsterdam and we shared a number of ideas as to how we can work closely with Nike in Europe, and in particular for us to duplicate a number of the various social campaigns that Nike sponsored-clubs in Europe endorse.”
Nike South Africa, which falls in line with Nike's regional office for Europe based in Amsterdam in The Netherlands, conducts Nike’s strategy for teams based in Europe and Africa. The sponsor said Chiefs will play an important part in Nike’s commercial and marketing strategy, not just in South Africa but on the international scene as well over the next couple of seasons.
The Nike group which visited Naturena will leave South Africa on Tuesday with their next port of call being the Camp Nou Stadium, in Barcelona where they will be shooting a commercial for a number of Nike’s new products with 2005 FIFA World Player of the year Ronaldinho.
