The Serbian born striker was also unable to train for two weeks. After enduring that difficult period, his return to action this past weekend saw him score a crucial late equaliser for Chiefs in their penalty shootout victory over Cape Town City in a Telkom Knockout Last 16 clash.
Of his goal scoring return to the field of play Nurković says: “It was a wonderful feeling to come back and score. I was out for three weeks and it was a challenging time for me. I just could not wait to get back onto the pitch and help the team as much as possible. I am happy to have contributed with a goal against City,”
It took a lot out of the 27-year-old striker as he overcame his injury. “it was frustrating because it was a head injury. You feel good because you can run and do everything except play because I could not head the ball. I am happy now because that is behind me. I am back now, which is what is important,” he adds.
Nurković who has scored two goals in seven games in all competitions this season, is now ready to turn his attention to Chiefs upcoming Absa Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns who are currently in second place with two points behind Chiefs.
“I believe we have played a number of big games already and we will be ready for this match, comments the Serb. “Our two games against a good team like Cape Town City (one in the league and the other in the cup) were tough games. For me every opponent is the same, not the same tactically or technically but they all good teams, and we need to prepare for them with the same intensity.”
According to the Chiefs striker, Amakhosi have the blueprint for being successful having achieved some good results thus far and will not let up in their preparation for Sundowns. “We need to carry on doing things the way we have which has worked for us. We have respected every opponent and prepared well for each game and this game will be no different”.
Nurković and co will travel to nation’s capital for this weekend’s top of the table clash against Sundowns, with kick-off for the game at 15:30 on Sunday at Loftus Versfeld.
