Things did not work out as planned for us in the opening period and the heat did not help us either, going down early on really put us under a lot of pressure but we had to fight back and we got a point.
In the second half we brought on Shaun and Rotson they both fought very hard and used their experience in these kind of games to get us a draw, what this game shows is that the league is a marathon not a sprint.
We won our last three games we drew this one and we have to more for this year, we want to win those and keep up the pressure on the front runners. We have a couple of things we need to work on one of them being that we need to go all out from the final whistle and not let the opposition dictate the play.
Pirates Coach Milutin Sredojevic
It is sad for us to have conceded a goal so late in the game we were really certain that we were going to record our first victory over Chiefs in two years, any way it is disheartening to have conceded a goal so late on. As a coach I cannot give up we need to get back together and start over again, I thought we really played well early on but we went into a defensive shell and should have attacked more and gone for a second goal.
Shaun Bartlett Kaizer Chiefs goal scorer
We cut it close this time but nevertheless scoring the goal which earned us a point felt great and it took a real team effort for us to have gotten a goal so late on in the game, I am just happy to have scored my third goal in three league games and I would like to keep it up next weekend.
This was my second goal against Pirates and also my second in an official Soweto derby after having scored against Swallows recently, to hear the crowd scream the way they did when the ball crossed the line was really something special.
It was a really tough game and we fought hard in the second half and it would have been sad for us not to have come out of this game with some thing.
