“We are ready for them (SuperSport United),” said Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala. “We don’t dwell on the past results. What’s important is to focus on the next match. I am confident and looking at the attitude in the dressing room, it is positive.”

Chiefs travel to Mpumalanga Province for the third time in April. This time Amakhosi are visiting SuperSport United in the ABSA Premiership fixture. “It is crunch time of the league,” said Shabba. “Every team is gunning for something. Our mission is still intact, and that’s to clinch the league title.”

The players looked sharp going through the pre-match training this morning. “There is a lot at stake,” said Shabba. “We have a badge to represent,” as Shabba points at the Chiefs badge on his training shirt, a gesture of determination indeed.

“We are representing the brand and the aspirations of the supporters,” said Shabba. “It is a privilege as well as a huge responsibility that we are carrying and we must uphold that by showing hunger on the pitch. I am optimistic we are going to win this one.”

A win for Amakhosi will diminish the hopes of entering the final stretch of the league race for United and will put Chiefs firmly in contention to lift the title. Chiefs occupy fourth spot with 45 points from 25 matches four behind the league leaders. United occupy fifth with 40 points from 24 matches.
