The Kaizer Chiefs reserve team’s ambitions of title glory in the national U-23 league, the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC), were set back on Sunday morning when they suffered a surprise 3-1 loss at home to Cape Town Spurs.
At the end of what has been a traumatic week for the entire Club, Young Amakhosi found themselves 3-0 down after 67 minutes before netting a consolation goal in the final minute to lend a semblance of respectability to the scoreline.
The result sees Chiefs drop back into fourth spot in the standings, on 47 points from 25 matches. They lie nine points off top spot with five rounds of the campaign still to play.
Coach Vela Khumalo will expect his team to bounce back immediately when they host bottom-of-the-table Polokwane next Saturday at !0:00am in a match they must win to keep their hopes alive.
