"We tried a few tactics to win the game," reflected Steve Komphela. "I thought we could have done better. When William Twala came on (replacing George Lebese in the 79th minute), he asked them a few questions but we couldn’t capitalize. At that stage Michael Boxall was under pressure sitting on a yellow, we should have put more emphasis on his side."
"After all, we lost on penalties and we are out of the competition that we hoped to win," said Komphela. "There's nothing much to say. A loss is a loss but we could have won it if we took our chances. Nobody will remember that we lost it on penalties."
A loss in this cup leaves Amakhosi with only the league to contest for the season. "Nobody will remember that you missed a penalty during extra time (Bernard Parker’s 13th minute penalty of extra time)," said Komphela. "We also missed a penalty (George Maluleka) during the shoot-out and got knocked out of the cup."
"We will go back to take stock," said Komphela. "We will get the bodies fresh and get the focus back on track."
"Itu (Itumeleng Khune) is bruised on his hip," Komphela confirming Khune's (Man of the Match) injury which happened during the shootout. "We will have to monitor his injury going to the next game."
Chiefs travel to Cape Town on Tuesday 25 April to face Cape Town City in a top of the table clash.
