A firm believer in the digital revolution, Mkontwana purchased the club’s new polo shirt and two T-shirts bearing the club’s new mantra of ‘One Team’. The Chiefs supporter is not a newbie at making online purchases as he regularly orders on the KC DigiStore, purchasing many items, including tracksuits, N98 tops and jerseys.
“I was taken aback when I arrived at the store on Saturday and was treated like a VIP where I sat and interacted with players I normally see on the pitch or on television. It was surreal to sit with Tsepo Masilela, Bruce Bvuma, Kgotso Moleko and erstwhile striker/defender Patrick Mayo,” said Mkhontwana
He added that the purchased goods were inspired by his desire to be ready for Sunday’s Telkom Knockout quarterfinal fixture against Chippa United and the subsequent celebrations that would follow in the new week.
Apart from meeting the players and former player, a presentation of his order by the quartet, the club added a few other products, including a Kaizer Chiefs tie, tickets to the match and other paraphernalia that he will use on a daily basis.
“I was born here in PE, but moved to Johannesburg and was able to attend almost each match, but unfortunately I had to move back to PE because of work commitments. I have been watching the Glamour Boys all my life. My favourite players were Ace Ntsoelengoe and Teenage Dladla,” added the SAA employee.
Hundreds of Amakhosi faithful visited the activation at Pier 14 Shopping Centre, meeting the players, making purchases and winning great prizes, courtesy of the Phefeni born club.
Those who missed the show will get a chance to receive match tickets when they spend a minimum of R200 on Sunday from 9:00 to 11:00, before heading to the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium for the mouth-watering clash against the Chilli boys at 15:30.
The store is located at Shop 114, Pier 14 Mall, 444 Govan Mbeki, North End. It offers insurance-related services as well as exclusive Kaizer Chiefs merchandise and KC Mobile starter packs.
